Unanticipated and undesirable discoveries
Historical preliminary investigation
Suspected of containing explosives or items of archaeological value
The past determines the present
We map out the water or soil with a desk study. This provides insight into the subterranean structure. This can be in pristine condition, but is often disturbed by the presence of archaeological remains, explosives from World War II, or pollutants.

Detection Work
Conditions and permits
There are usually conditions set for working in a suspected or vulnerable area. Permits can be used to require that flora and fauna are taken into account in areas such as a Natura2000 site. The desk study may also necessitate various changes, such as during soil or water remediation activities or in the event of a calamity. Assist Explore supervises these procedures in their entirety, both before and during the processes.
Detection process
When past and present come together and the various disciplines are put into action in cooperation with Assist Explore, the process turns to localising and detecting the foreign objects. We conduct the detection activities. This can involve trial trenching, sampling, and other detection techniques. The resulting data is fine tuned in consultation with hands-on experts. Assist Explore works exclusively with parties proficient in these disciplines, who can perform as much of the work themselves as possible. This keeps the entire process manageable. By keeping the lines of communication short, the project remains flexible and clear, even if unanticipated modifications need to be made during the execution.
soil management
Assist Explore has a long history of specialisation in soil management. Projects involving earth displacement must conform to the Dutch Soil Quality Decree (BBK) and the Dutch Soil Protection Act (WBB) at all times. Pollution often plays a crucial part, unfortunately. By correctly managing the processes, the often complex execution involving various types of soil management remains clear. Assist Explore can rely on years of experience with combined activities (including railway, road network, hydraulic engineering, and remediation activities). Our experience enables us to actively contribute towards a solution for complex issues.
By using experienced parties equipped with specialised equipment, we can take on both the management and the full execution of the project.
Calamities
Assist Explore is routinely contracted to take control of organisation in the event of calamities. With our European-focused, specialised network, we are fully equipped to rapidly gain insight into the conditions during a calamity and make them manageable together with the relevant authorities. It often concerns an accident (traffic, aircraft, or railway) which requires clearing, transportation, and remediation due to the release of harmful substances.
These often harmful materials must be secured for examination or transportation to a certified, national or international specialised treatment facility. By law, these processes must be documented extremely accurately.
Many of our waters are protected Natura2000 sites. Assist Explore is a hands-on expert on operating in these vulnerable nature reserves and focusing on our flora and fauna together with the relevant authorities.
Our future
Affinity is the key in our organisation. Assist Explore guarantees the quality required to operate with the aforementioned disciplines in our valuable and vulnerable environment. There is no room for tolerances here. History has taught us that we must be careful with what we leave in the wake of our existence, as the long-term consequences for future generations can be unnecessarily large. Assist Explore cherishes every aspect of the environment.
